Accomplishments

Posted on December 31, 2007 at 8:54 pm         By Megan in Barr Family Blog

Ryan has now been officially accepted to the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. He still has one interview to go (with Kellogg), and we don’t expect to hear from Berkeley until March. That being said, It’s looking pretty likely that a move is in our future.
Also, I was just offered a job as [...]

And we’re done…

Posted on at 3:08 pm         By Ryan in Investing | Disclaimer

2007 has come to a close. The Santa Claus rally didn’t really do much this year and we ended on a down note.
The RUT closed the year at $766.03 down ($5.73) for the day. All of the other major indexes shared similar performance for the lackluster close of the year.
Overall, 2007 was a [...]

My Journey to Wordpress - Part 2

Posted on at 2:30 pm         By Ryan in Web Development

For part two of “My Journey to Wordpress” I’m going to talk about setup and configuration. I mentioned that my host does a simplified installation of both wordpress and gallery. It made the first part of this really, really easy. I literally, log into my administration web-panel, then click install.
After about [...]

My Journey to Wordpress - Part 1

Posted on December 30, 2007 at 12:21 pm         By Ryan in Web Development

Wow…
I never thought I would do this, but I’ve dumped textpattern. It actually came about rather quickly and I’m quite happy after doing it. Just a few weeks ago, Megan and I began the process of re-vamping the website. She really wanted to start blogging some more, and well, I [...]

Inline Stock Quote Plugin

Posted on December 29, 2007 at 1:08 am         By Ryan in Web Development

Add In-line Stock Quote Data to your Posts. Based on the StockQuoteTT Plug-in by Andrew Hill. I took the framework that Andrew Hill put together and instead of setting up stock quote tool tips, which were driving me nuts based upon my sites design, I pulled in the current data from yahoo.com and [...]

It’s like a roller coaster!

Posted on December 28, 2007 at 10:16 am         By Ryan in Options Trading, Papermoney | Disclaimer

Up and down the RUT goes – where it stops nobody knows! The question is… Did I make the right decision to keep my January position open?

Merry Christmas!

Posted on December 21, 2007 at 7:51 am         By Megan in Barr Family Blog

So, I decided that even though I sent out paper Christmas letters, I'd include all the info here.  If you didn't get one in the mail, that means I don't have your address and would be happy to ratify the situation… just let me know.  Heeeeeeeeeeeeerrrreee  it is!

Jan ‘08 Papermoney Trade

Posted on December 20, 2007 at 2:44 pm         By Ryan in Papermoney | Disclaimer

Well, I promised I would take a look to see to see if there were any good trades out there before the end of the year. Guess what, I found one. This bull put spread has a solid return with very, very reasonable risk.

Papermoney 2007 Recap

Posted on December 19, 2007 at 12:02 am         By Ryan in Papermoney | Disclaimer

2007 was a fairly uneventful year for the trading account. I was pretty quite most of the year and didn’t post all that many trades.
There were a few reasons for my light posting

I didn’t make very many trades, therefore a little less posting
The market was very volatile and I opted to stay out of [...]
