boing boing boing

What’s that??? It’s the sound of the market bouncing up and down like crazy! This has been an interesting week so far and quite frankly, I have no idea were things are going to end up. All of the current positions look good, so we’ll just keep looking for upward momentum to protect [...]

rolling forward the spx to july

Posted on May 26, 2006 at 5:29 pm         By Ryan in Papermoney | Disclaimer

During the last few minutes of trading today I was able to find a nice roll trade for the SPX June condor and rolled it out to July. My rational here is that I was able to lock in the total profits from our June position, as well as capture additional premium for July. [...]

bottom fishing…

Posted on at 10:37 am         By Ryan in Options Trading, Papermoney | Disclaimer

Well, it appears the for the short term, the market has found the bottom. If the SPX can close today above 1278 or so we should be in good shape. Now, I’m not about to predict that the market is going to rocket back up, but I think we may have found stable [...]

working the tech stocks in june

Posted on May 23, 2006 at 9:37 am         By Ryan in Options Trading, Papermoney | Disclaimer

I’ve tried to get some fills on a few good SPX trades over the past 2 days and haven’t been able to get the premium that I would like. Given that the SPX wasn’t working out, I figured it was time to start hunting through a few other indexes to see what I could [...]

june 2006 rut position opened

Posted on May 22, 2006 at 10:52 pm         By Ryan in Options Trading | Disclaimer

Today I was about to get a pretty good fill on the bottom side of what will likely become an Iron Condor. The position is a June 2006 Bull Put Spread. Here are the details:

May 2006 RUT 660/650 Bull Put Spread
Sell 660 Put & Buy 650 Put
Filled for $1.00 Credit
ROI 10%

The market is [...]

the rules save the day

Posted on May 20, 2006 at 12:21 am         By Ryan in Options Trading, Papermoney | Disclaimer

Well, well, well… When the market closed today I was a happy man. I walked away 100% profitable on my personal trades and the RUT papermoney trade that was stopped out proves the point that you MUST follow the rules! For the record, I’ll state my rules again.

If the underlying trades to within [...]

settlements are out, and things look good!

Posted on May 19, 2006 at 1:00 pm         By Ryan in Options Trading | Disclaimer

Well, May was another profitable month! Both positions that I had running were 100% profitable. The SPX settlement is out at 1264.71, a full 9.71 points higher that I needed it to be. Had the market continued downward yesterday I would have been closed out early, taking in only a small profit. [...]

letting it ride….

Posted on May 18, 2006 at 5:00 pm         By Ryan in Options Trading | Disclaimer

So I decided today to let my SPX position ride into the markets opening tomorrow morning. It’s a little close, and I’m watching carefully; although there isn’t anything that I can do if things go wrong
The futures look okay right now, and it looks as though the SPX is poised to open [...]

rolling out the paper money may 2006 spx iron condor into june

Posted on at 1:16 pm         By Ryan in Papermoney | Disclaimer

Given that the market is still showing a little bit of weakness today, I figured it would be a good idea to lock in our profits from the May SPX Iron Condor and roll it forward to another Condor for June. I decided to again be quite conservative with the June trade; as a [...]

still swinging from the fences - what to do now?

Posted on May 17, 2006 at 4:44 pm         By Ryan in Options Trading, Papermoney | Disclaimer

Wow… Today was a roller coaster of a day for the markets. After a huge buildup and near record closes in the past few weeks, the markets have decided to let off a head of steam. After the Fed meeting last week things started to slide and support levels began to fail, today’s [...]
